Mandriva XFCE 2010 Spring is a big disappoinment

Mandriva XFCE is a lightweight distro but I don't think so because it failed to install in my PC that supports KDE 4.5, Windows 7 and Vista. then How can I say it as light weight.But it installed successfully on my friend PC who has high end Configuration.

My PC's Specification:
AMD Athlon 3000+ 2GHz
1GB DDR1 RAM
80 GB Hard disk
64 MB Graphic Memory
1024*768 Monitor Resolution

My Friend PC's Specification:
Intel core2duo 2.93GHz
2GB DDR3
500GB Hard disk
256 MB Graphic Memory
19" LG LCD

The second alpha release of Mandriva Linux 2010.1 is now available

The second alpha release of Mandriva  Linux 2010.1 is now available for download and testing: "The time has came for the second alpha release for the 2010.1 version of Mandriva Linux. As this is an early pre-release, major changes are mostly in the area of included third-party software. Installation :
Fastest and smooth , Its much better than 2009 spring edition, as it took a better installer. EXT4 is quite mature and as we know its is more faster than EXT3.


Multimedia:
Exceptional, there is VLC, Mplayer which can play any media and if you want to play all media in default player like Dragon and totem follow the Fabrice's  advice


By adding PLF repositories, you will be able to install additionnal codecs without paying the ones from fluendo.

Now  with Moovida You can experience better multimedia then windows vista deafult media center.

Conclusion:
For beginner to expert it is the excellent distro, a perfect window killer and better then Windows any version whether its XP,Vista or 7. So what you are looking for try once and forget everything.

It is smooth and fast and graphics looks gorgeous during installation.
You will be able also to use from installation media some very useful tools:

Multimedia Experience:

If you install VLC & SMPlayer (provider in DVD) you can play most of things. But if you want to play using Dragon or Totem you have to buy codecs from fluendo is the only option.


Whats New in Mandriva 2010 RC1:

Due to the strength of Linux, a typical Mandriva Linux system can run for months without a reboot. Samsung Monitor.

Installation:

It is smooth and fast and graphics looks gorgeous during installation.
You will be able also to use from installation media some very useful tools:

• HDT (Hardware Detection Tool): get a complete description of your hardware without booting a complete os
• draksnapshot restore tools: restore your full system in an easy way from a date you will choose and many other updates and fixes.

This release is available through

• DVD edition (32 or 64 bits) with a traditional installer.
• Desktop Option - KDE 4.2.1, GNOME 2.25.92, LXDE,.

Multimedia Experience:

If you install VLC & SMPlayer (provider in DVD) you can play most of things. But if you want to play using Dragon or Totem you have to buy codecs from fluendo is the only option.Flash Player is useless in Mandriva 2009 spring edition.
