Jaunty Jackalope(Ubuntu 9.04)

Today I am going to review one of my favorite Distro Ubuntu. As everyone knows it is the number one Distro in Distrowatch.com website. Ubuntu is based on Debian and uses Gnome as its default desktop. Before going to discuss my experience with newly launch 9.04 version lets have a look on my test machine configuration.

My Test Machine:

AMD64 3000+ Processor
MSI Motherboard
512 DDR II Ram
ESPON C 58 Printer
Samsung Monitor.

Release Date : April 23rd,2009.

Installation:

I greatly impressed by its installation, it was smooth, quicker than previous one 8.10 and stable enough to use ext4.

What's New:

GNOME 2.26.1 desktop environment
· Linux kernel 2.6.28.9
· EXT4 filesystem support
· X.Org 7.4
· X.Org server 1.6
· Mesa 3D DRI 7.4
· New notification framework
· OpenOffice.org 3.0.1
· Mozilla Firefox 3.0.9
· Compiz Fusion 0.8.2
· Improved boot speed
· Wacom tablet hotplugging.
· Brasero 2.26.0
· Totem 2.26.1
· Rhythmbox 0.12.0 &
a brand new theme and new notification.

Hard Detection:

As usual its great , none of Distro except OpenSUSE can beat Ubuntu in terms of hardware detection.

Conclusion:

Its time to move from windows to Linux because Ubuntu once again proved open-source is not only better , it is best in the market.
