Kubuntu

Today I am going to review one of my favorite Distro Kubuntu. As everyone knows it comes in top 20 in Distrowatch.com website. Kubuntu is based on Debian and uses KDE as its default desktop. Before going to discuss my experience with newly launch 9.04 version lets have a look on my test machine configuration.

My Test Machine:

AMD64 3000+ Processor
MSI Motherboard
512 DDR II Ram
ESPON C 58 Printer
Samsung Monitor.

Release Date : April 23rd,2009.

Installation:

I greatly impressed by its installation, it was smooth, quicker than previous one 8.10 and stable enough to use ext4. It is exceptionally fast distro. Lots of people reviewed and experienced some problem with Network Manager but all my setting was detected automatically.

Whats New :
* 4.2 desktop environment
* kernel 2.6.28.9
*Ext4 filesystem support
* Amarok 2.0.2
*OpenOffice.org 3.0.1

I liked to see KDE 4.2 is much faster than how it was in Kubuntu 8.10. Great transparency effects, wobbly windows, animated minimise/maximise of windows are just a few of the wonderful desktop effects KDE has to offer.

Hardware Detection:

As usual its great , none of Distro except OpenSUSE can beat Kubuntu and Ubuntu in terms of hardware detection.

Conclusion:

Its time to move from windows to Linux because Kubuntu once again proved open-source is not only better , it is best in the market and its look is simply gorgeous.

  1. ugg boots which have been made from high quality real sheepskin are very easy to care for. I stripped the colour from a cheap pair of sheepskin ugg by using too strong a detergent! Dunk the whole uggs into the water almost up to the top of the ugg bailey button boots - try not to get too much water in the top of the ugg argyle knit unless you specifically want to wash the insides.
